Hurryin' Big for Little Reasons

My family took the day to visit the National Center for Civil and Human Rights Museum.  At the end of the tour, there was an exhibit dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s writings and library.  There was a wall painted to depict the collection of books from Dr. King’s personal library.  I was mesmerized by such a variety of works in there.  We were not allowed to take photos or videos of this exhibit. Of course, this was the exhibit that I was drawn to most to take photos. I wanted to record and remember each book that he had in the library so that I could take a peek at what was important in his reading life.

This one title really caught my eye, and I managed to memorize it, “Hurryin’ Big for Little Reasons”. I knew this one would speak to my heart. When I got back home, I checked it out on Amazon.  This is what the author, Ronald R. Meredith, says:

Life is at your doorstep. Don't miss it. If the rushing pace of your living allows you no time to live and love, then you may be "hurryin' big for little reasons." These little stories from my life are important only as they remind you of your life's stories. May the remembering of them bring you joy and hope; and in the remembering, cause us all "to love our loves with a greater tenderness, for the days of love are short."

Where are you hurryin’ big for little reasons?  In the social media/instagram/facebook rush to achieve, set goals, win at all costs, beat the competition and fight your way to the top, are you hurryin’ big and hustling for what seems like the grand prize? I challenge you to do as Meredith suggests and slow down, remember the things that bring you joy and hope! You deserve to love your loves with greater tenderness.

So much rushing to win and achieve can leave our other relationships set aside for some later time. The time is NOW to evaluate what are your BIG reasons and what are your LITTLE reasons.  Do you have these reversed? Does your scale need resetting? I can help you with your relationship to yourself, to time, to your spouse or partner, to your family, to work, to life, to anything that is distracting you from the remembering what are the BIG reasons you came here into this world.  The days of love are short, but they are beautiful and worth it.  Let’s do this together.
